In the year 1952, only a few years after independence, a handful of visionaries got together and formed Sanatan Dharam Shabha with the purpose to help society in the best possible way. They dreamt of building a school for the upliftment of the underpriviliged girl child.

The construction of school began in 1961. The school that has the modest beginning as "Sanskrit Vidyalaya" , in tents with a handful of students, over a period of few years was upgraded to Senior Secondary School, with the name , catering to more than 1000 students and it spread over an area of 18200 sq. ft. wit a magnificent building comprising of spacious rooms, well equipped labs and all modern facilities required for a school.

As S.S.D. Sr. Sec. Girls School was growing with time, the Sabha - Shri Sanatan Dharam Sabha also grew in the number of volunteers and dedicated souls, who joined in the nobel cause of serving the society. A commitment to provide public school education to those who were unable to access the so called "Public School" without any discrimination on the basis of income, education of parents, social background etc, a need to fulfill the scarcity of a good co-ed. public school in the Patel nagar area was felt by the members of the Sabha.

The Sabha started a Co-ed. school, in the premises of S.D. Montessori of today, in the year 1978. As the school expandedin the subsequent years, a bigger building was required. In the year 1992, the classes moved into the newly constructed building, ie., the S.D. Public School as we know it today.

In 1993, the school was recognised and affiliated to C.B.S.E. This step was an affirmation of the efforts and the vision of the founder members. After that there was no looking back. Since then the school has progressed by leaps and bounds and today it has achieved a position amongst the best schools of the zone.

SD Public School was started with a vision to provide such a school to society which is a blend of values, traditions, technology and a quest for quality and excellence. Here, student development takes place in all dimensions intellectual, social, emotional, physical and spiritual aesthetics. Student learning is encouraged through a spirit of enquiry and competition. Students growth is promoted through empowerment in school team, guidance and counseling and their progress is facilitated through a mature-school-parent relationship.
